Local Priorities Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of) Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

As your local Beat Manager, PC 2358 Szeremeta, I would like to provide an update around the recent increase in autocrime offences across Chase Farm Estate and Gedling Village. The team have worked diligently to identify an offender following numerous offences between September and December 2025. The local safer neighbourhoods team, colleagues from Response and Intelligence Unit were involved with plain clothes and overt patrols over the last month. We have also sent letters to residents to be mindful of having items on display and making sure vehicles are secure.

I am now pleased to report that on Sunday 21st December 2025, we arrested a 44 year old man on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle, theft from motor vehicle and vehicle interference. I am aware these offences have caused residents distress and residents have experienced some losses. As a result of this, the suspect has been bailed with conditions not to go to these locations and the police will also be conducting curfew checks between 2100-0700 hrs over the next three months, which will be monitored robustly.

Once again, I would like to thank the community for your support and I am extremely hopeful offending will be reduced. You will still see officers in the area and could I also take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful and safe Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
